HPP Vukli i Ri is a proposed 1.60 MW run-of-river hydropower project located on the Cem i Vuklit River, near the village of Vukël in the Malësi e Madhe Municipality, northern Albania. The project is developed along an approximately 2 km section of the river, downstream of the existing HPP Vukli, utilizing the available hydraulic potential through a new diversion hydropower scheme.
The hydropower scheme is designed for a discharge of 4.30 m³/s, with a gross hydraulic head of 50.00 m and a net head of approximately 41.86 m. Its main infrastructure comprises a concrete gravity intake weir, gravel trap, desanding basin, pressure basin, and an approximately 1.70 km steel penstock conveying water to the downstream powerhouse. The hydraulic configuration is adapted to the mountainous terrain and incorporates provisions for ecological flow and sediment management.
The powerhouse is designed to accommodate two Francis turbine-generator units rated at 1,000 kW and 600 kW, providing a combined installed capacity of 1,600 kW. The project is expected to generate approximately 5.77 GWh of renewable electricity annually, based on the P50 hydrological assessment. The feasibility study, including hydrological, hydraulic, energy yield and preliminary engineering assessments, has been completed, providing the technical basis for the project's next development and regulatory authorization stages.
