The Kir River Hydropower Portfolio comprises five independent run-of-river hydropower projects located across tributaries of the Kir River in Shkodër Municipality, northern Albania. The developments — Marknonaj, Zabeli, Bregu, Gjuraj and Xhani — have a combined designed installed capacity of 5.40 MW and an estimated annual renewable electricity generation of approximately 17.45 GWh.
Each hydropower scheme is designed to utilize the natural water resources and elevation differences of its respective catchment, with net hydraulic heads ranging from approximately 103 m to 241 m. The proposed infrastructure includes concrete water intake structures, sediment management facilities, diversion channels and pressure pipelines, pressure basins and individual powerhouses. The five projects collectively incorporate nine Pelton turbine-generator units, with hydraulic configurations adapted to the mountainous terrain and the hydrological characteristics of each watercourse.
