HPP Selca is an operational, privately owned 1.95 MW hydropower plant located in the Selcë area, near Tamarë, within the Malësi e Madhe Municipality in northern Albania. Originally constructed in the 1980s, the facility has undergone rehabilitation and modernization works, including an increase in its installed generating capacity from the previously documented 0.60 MW to 1.95 MW.
The hydropower plant utilizes two existing water intake systems operating under different hydraulic heads. The high-head scheme is characterized by a design discharge of 0.30 m³/s and a gross hydraulic head of 408 m, while the lower-head scheme operates with a design discharge of 2.562 m³/s and a gross hydraulic head of 60 m. Both systems form part of the existing hydropower infrastructure serving the powerhouse.
The rehabilitation project includes the reconstruction and upgrading of the main hydraulic and civil structures, including water intake facilities, water conveyance channels, sedimentation systems, and pressure basin infrastructure. The engineering works incorporate detailed hydraulic and structural designs, reinforced-concrete construction details, and technical solutions adapted to the existing facilities.
The modernization and capacity upgrade improve the utilization of the available hydraulic potential while maintaining the existing water-use framework. The rehabilitated infrastructure supports the continued operation of HPP Selca as a 1.95 MW renewable electricity generation facility.
