The EcoPark Vau Dejes photovoltaic plant is a utility-scale solar energy project developed in northern Albania within the Municipality of Vau i Dejës, Shkodër Region. The project is designed to contribute to Albania’s renewable energy targets and aligns with national energy transition policies and European Union directives on decarbonization and sustainable power generation.
The plant has an installed capacity of approximately 45.3 MWp (DC) and 41.4 MW (AC), utilizing bifacial photovoltaic modules (Longi Solar LR7-72HGD-610M) mounted on fixed-tilt support structures. The system is designed with a DC/AC ratio of 1.09 to optimize energy yield. The electrical architecture includes string combiner boxes, central inverters (SG1100UD), and power stations equipped with transformers to step up voltage to 20 kV for medium-voltage distribution.
The internal electrical network consists of five medium-voltage branches connecting distributed power stations to a central substation. Energy is exported via an approximately 2.17 km overhead transmission line connected to the 110 kV grid. The design adheres to IEC standards for cable sizing, trenching, and electrical safety.
The project site features variable terrain with slopes ranging between 10% and 25%, requiring selective earthworks and layout optimization to ensure structural stability and performance. Environmental considerations include minimal terrain disturbance, optimized drainage systems, and albedo-based performance modeling using satellite-derived data.
Infrastructure includes internal access roads (approx. 2.64 km), perimeter fencing (~6.8 km), surveillance systems, and lighting installations. The plant is designed for long-term operation with monitored performance, accounting for module degradation and system losses.
The expected annual energy production is approximately 69,140 MWh, contributing significantly to clean energy supply and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
