The PVPP Bilisht project is a large-scale photovoltaic power plant developed in the Korçë region of Albania, designed to contribute to the national renewable energy targets and enhance energy security through sustainable generation. The project has been developed in accordance with Albanian energy regulations and grid code requirements for high-voltage transmission systems, ensuring compliance with voltage stability, protection systems, and grid integration standards.
The plant has an installed capacity of approximately 110 MWp (DC) and 91.1 MW (AC), with energy injected into the transmission network via a 110 kV substation. The facility is connected to the grid through a dedicated 110 kV overhead transmission line approximately 16.7 km in length, linking the plant to the nearest point of interconnection. Electrical studies confirm that the integration of the plant does not adversely affect voltage levels or system stability, remaining within permissible operational limits.
The site is characterized by moderate to steep terrain, requiring significant earthworks, including cut and fill balancing, to establish suitable mounting conditions. The photovoltaic arrays are installed on fixed-tilt mounting structures optimized for solar irradiation conditions derived from PVGIS data. The plant utilizes high-efficiency bifacial monocrystalline modules and advanced inverter technology to maximize energy yield, achieving an estimated annual production of approximately 168,000 MWh.
The project incorporates modern monitoring and control systems, enabling real-time performance tracking and efficient operation and maintenance. Environmental considerations, including land use optimization and minimal ecological disruption, have been integrated into the design. Over its lifecycle, the plant is expected to provide stable, low-carbon electricity generation while supporting Albania’s transition toward renewable energy sources.
