The project consists of the development of a ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) power plant with an installed capacity of approximately 2 MW, located in the Fier region of Albania. The project is aligned with Albania’s renewable energy strategy and complies with applicable European and international standards for electrical installations, including IEC regulations.
The primary objective of the project is to generate clean electricity from solar energy and inject it into the national grid, contributing to the diversification of energy sources and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The site was selected based on favorable solar irradiation conditions, with a Global Horizontal Irradiation (GHI) of approximately 1552 kWh/m²/year, ensuring efficient energy production.
The plant utilizes high-efficiency monocrystalline photovoltaic modules mounted on fixed-tilt metallic structures supplied by K2 Systems. The mounting system is designed with driven pile foundations embedded up to 1 meter in the ground, ensuring structural stability and optimized land use. The electrical configuration includes centralized inverter technology, where multiple PV strings are connected via combiner boxes to central inverters for DC to AC conversion.
All electrical components, including cables and protection systems, are designed to withstand environmental conditions such as UV exposure and temperature variations. Cable routing and sizing follow IEC standards to minimize losses and ensure operational efficiency.
Environmental considerations include minimal land disturbance, optimized layout to reduce shading losses, and long-term degradation management of modules. The system accounts for auxiliary consumption and performance losses over time, with degradation modeled over a 10-year period.
The plant is designed for a lifecycle exceeding 25–30 years, with provisions for monitoring, maintenance, and system security to ensure reliable and continuous operation.
