The project consists of the development of a 2 MW photovoltaic (PV) power plant located in the village of Topojë, within the Municipality of Fier, Albania. The project is part of Albania’s ongoing efforts to diversify its energy mix and increase the share of renewable energy sources in compliance with national energy strategies and European directives.
The plant is designed with a total installed DC capacity of 2.403 MWp and an AC capacity of 2.0 MW, utilizing high-efficiency monocrystalline photovoltaic modules. The selected module type, Trina TSM DE18M II (approx. 670–680 W), ensures optimal performance under local climatic conditions. The system comprises 3,534 PV modules arranged in multiple rows with a fixed tilt angle of 30° and optimal orientation (azimuth 0°), maximizing solar irradiation capture based on Meteonorm 8.0 data (GHI ≈ 1552 kWh/m²/year).
Energy conversion is handled by two Sungrow SG1000 inverters connected through a medium-voltage internal grid operating at 20 kV. The design follows international standards (IEC 60364 and IEC 60502), ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliability. Underground cabling systems and combiner boxes are implemented to minimize losses and optimize system layout.
The project includes comprehensive civil works such as access roads (approx. 263 m), drainage systems, mounting structures with driven pile foundations, and perimeter fencing with integrated security and monitoring systems. The mounting system, supplied by K2 Systems, is engineered for durability and ease of installation.
Environmental considerations include minimal land disturbance, optimized land use (approx. 26,500 m²), and controlled stormwater management. The plant is expected to produce approximately 3,482 MWh annually, with a performance ratio of 82.5% and a capacity factor of 16.5%.
The operational lifecycle accounts for module degradation, estimated at around 5.12% over 10 years, ensuring long-term energy yield predictability and financial viability.
