The PVPP ERDY project consists of the development of a 2 MW photovoltaic (PV) power plant located in the administrative unit of Katërman e Madhe, within the Municipality of Librazhd, Elbasan Region, Albania. The project has been designed in accordance with Albanian regulatory requirements for renewable energy generation, including pre-feasibility study obligations defined under applicable Council of Ministers decisions related to grid connection and energy production licensing.
The primary objective of the project is to harness solar energy potential in the region and contribute to the national renewable energy targets, while ensuring reliable and efficient integration into the medium-voltage distribution network. The plant is designed based on detailed climatic and solar irradiation analysis using Meteonorm datasets, ensuring optimized system performance and accurate energy yield forecasting.
Technically, the installation includes high-efficiency monocrystalline photovoltaic modules rated at approximately 660 W per panel, mounted on fixed-tilt support structures optimized for site-specific solar orientation. The DC system is configured to operate up to 1500 V, minimizing transmission losses, while grid conversion is achieved via Sungrow SG125HV inverters connected to a 20 kV internal medium-voltage network.
The generated power is exported through a 35 kV overhead line of approximately 80 meters connecting to the existing Librazhd substation, ensuring stable grid integration with minimal losses. Civil works include land preparation, internal access roads, cable trenching, and installation of mounting structures.
Environmental considerations include minimal land disturbance, optimized land use, and implementation of monitoring systems (SCADA and meteorological station) to ensure efficient operation. The plant incorporates security systems, including perimeter fencing, surveillance cameras, and remote monitoring.
The project is designed for long-term operation with low maintenance requirements and a lifecycle exceeding 25 years, contributing sustainable and clean energy to the Albanian power system.
