The project consists of the development of a 2 MW photovoltaic (PV) power plant located in the village of Topojë, within the Municipality of Fier, Albania. The project is part of Albania’s ongoing efforts to diversify its energy mix and increase the share of renewable energy sources in accordance with national energy strategies and EU-aligned regulatory frameworks.
The plant is designed with a total installed capacity of 2.403 MWp (DC) and 2.0 MW (AC), optimized to maximize energy yield under local climatic conditions characterized by high solar irradiation levels (approximately 1552 kWh/m²/year). The system is expected to generate approximately 3,456 MWh annually, with a performance ratio of 81.9% and a capacity factor of 16.4%.
The installation includes 3,534 high-efficiency monocrystalline photovoltaic modules (Trina Solar, model TSM-DE18M-II, ~670–680 Wp), mounted on fixed-tilt ground-mounted metallic structures with a tilt angle of 30° and optimized row spacing. The mounting system is designed for durability and anchored with driven piles adapted to local soil conditions.
Energy conversion is achieved via two central inverters (Sungrow SG1000), connected to a medium-voltage internal grid operating at 20 kV. The electrical infrastructure is designed in compliance with IEC standards, ensuring minimized transmission losses and high operational reliability.
The site covers approximately 28,000 m², with optimized land use (GCR ~0.5). Environmental considerations include minimal land disturbance, efficient layout planning, and long-term sustainability, including module degradation planning over a 30-year lifecycle.
Construction methodology includes phased installation of mounting structures, module placement, inverter stations, and underground cable routing. The system is designed for low maintenance and high availability, with estimated auxiliary consumption and degradation factors incorporated into performance modeling.
