The PVPP Green Neptun project consists of the development of a utility-scale photovoltaic power plant located in Derëzezë e Re, within the Municipality of Fier, one of Albania’s key solar potential regions. The project is developed by MD Green Energy sh.p.k., with engineering and consultancy services provided by Blue Water Energy sh.p.k.
The project is designed in accordance with the Albanian legal and regulatory framework governing renewable energy, including Law No. 7/2017 on renewable energy promotion and relevant Council of Ministers decisions. It contributes to national objectives for diversifying electricity generation sources and increasing solar energy capacity in line with EU climate commitments.
Technically, the plant has an installed DC capacity of approximately 26.23 MWp and an AC output capacity of 21.82 MW. The system utilizes high-efficiency bifacial monocrystalline PV modules (Trina Solar TSM-700 series), mounted on fixed-tilt structures optimized for site-specific solar irradiation conditions. Energy conversion is achieved via 62 Sungrow SG350HX string inverters, ensuring high performance and operational flexibility.
The project site covers approximately 22.8 hectares of relatively flat terrain with minimal slope, enabling efficient layout and reduced civil works complexity. The plant includes internal access roads, cable routing infrastructure, drainage systems, and perimeter security installations. A dedicated 110/20 kV substation with a 25 MVA transformer facilitates grid integration, with an حوالي 8.7 km overhead transmission line connecting to the national grid.
Construction involves phased civil, mechanical, and electrical works over an estimated 18-month period. Environmental considerations include optimized land use, minimal terrain alteration, and low-maintenance design. The plant is expected to generate approximately 40,070 MWh annually in its first year, with long-term performance supported by SCADA monitoring and preventive maintenance strategies over a 25-year lifecycle.
