The PVPP Green Saturni project consists of the development of a utility-scale photovoltaic power plant located in the flat agricultural area of Derëzezë e Re, within the Municipality of Fier, Albania. The project is promoted by MD Green Energy sh.p.k. and forms part of Albania’s national strategy to increase renewable energy production in accordance with Law No. 7/2017 and related regulatory frameworks.
The plant is designed with an installed DC capacity of approximately 21.9 MWp and integrates high-efficiency bifacial monocrystalline photovoltaic modules (Trina Solar, 700 Wp) mounted on fixed-tilt support structures. The system is optimized for maximum annual yield, considering local climatic conditions including solar irradiation, wind, and precipitation patterns. Energy conversion is achieved via 52 Sungrow SG350HX string inverters, connected to multiple medium-voltage transformer stations (800 V / 20 kV), ensuring efficient power evacuation.
The project site is characterized by predominantly flat terrain with minimal slopes (below 1%), enabling cost-effective construction with limited earthworks. Civil works include land clearing over approximately 222,000 m², internal road construction (~2 km), drainage systems, and installation of structural foundations. Electrical infrastructure comprises underground LV and MV cable networks, internal substations, and connection to the national grid via nearby 110 kV and 220 kV infrastructure, including the Hoxharë substation under development.
Environmental considerations include erosion control measures, limited terrain alteration, and optimized land use. The plant is designed for long-term operation exceeding 25 years, with performance ratio values around 80% and expected annual energy production of approximately 33.5 GWh, contributing significantly to clean energy generation in the region.
