The PVPP Jagodinë project consists of the development of a ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) power plant located in the Elbasan region of Albania. The project has been designed in accordance with applicable IEC and EN standards, ensuring compliance with European grid connection and electrical safety requirements. It contributes to Albania’s renewable energy targets by increasing solar generation capacity and supporting grid stability through medium-voltage integration.
The plant has an installed capacity of approximately 2.0 MWac and 2.5 MWp DC, utilizing high-efficiency bifacial photovoltaic modules mounted on fixed-tilt metallic structures in a 2P (portrait) configuration. The mounting system is anchored using bi-pole foundations, optimized for terrain conditions characterized by moderate slopes (up to 20%) and minor undulations. Earthworks were required to ensure structural compliance, involving both cut and fill operations to achieve acceptable grading.
The electrical infrastructure includes string combiner boxes, a centralized inverter station, and a 35 kV medium-voltage connection system. Power is evacuated via an օդerhead transmission line connecting the plant substation (4.5 MVA capacity) to the grid interconnection point. The electrical design incorporates optimized conductor sizing and protection systems to minimize losses and ensure operational reliability.
The plant is expected to generate approximately 3,800 MWh annually, based on solar resource data derived from PVGIS, with a performance ratio exceeding 80%. Environmental considerations include minimal land disturbance, optimized layout to reduce shading losses, and efficient use of terrain.
The project is designed for long-term operation (25+ years), with provisions for maintenance access, monitoring systems, and performance optimization, ensuring sustainable energy production and economic viability.
