The PVPP Sitrof–Fortis 2 project consists of the development of a utility-scale photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of approximately 30.34 MWp, located in the Klos–Suç area, within the Municipality of Klos, Dibër region. The project has been developed in compliance with the Albanian legal and regulatory framework governing renewable energy production and grid integration, including requirements for grid connection studies and technical feasibility assessments.
The primary objective of the project is to contribute to the diversification of Albania’s electricity generation mix by increasing solar-based production, thereby reducing dependence on hydropower and enhancing system reliability. The plant is designed to inject electricity into the national transmission system through a newly developed 110 kV overhead transmission line approximately 5.15 km in length, connecting to the existing grid infrastructure near the Klos substation.
The photovoltaic system comprises approximately 46,000 high-efficiency Trina Solar modules (600–660 W class), mounted on fixed-tilt structures with an inclination of 25°. The system is optimized with a DC/AC ratio of approximately 1.1, utilizing around 25 centralized inverters to convert DC power into AC. Step-up transformers and medium-voltage infrastructure ensure efficient power evacuation.
The site covers an area of approximately 344,000 m² (34.4 ha), with an optimized layout balancing land use efficiency and energy production (GCR ~50%). Civil works include internal access roads, control buildings, cable trenches, and perimeter fencing. Electrical infrastructure incorporates DC and AC cabling systems, monitoring systems, and grid protection schemes.
The expected annual energy production is approximately 42,072 MWh, with a performance ratio of about 81%. Environmental mitigation measures and site rehabilitation works are integrated into the project to minimize ecological impact and ensure sustainable operation over its lifecycle.
