The Tropojë Sustainable Watercourse Management Concept Study was developed as part of a preliminary environmental investment assessment for CWP and Clean Rivers, aimed at identifying potential opportunities for sustainable water resource management and environmental infrastructure development in Albania.
The desktop study focused on the Tropojë region, assessing existing environmental conditions, river networks, pollution challenges, protected areas and potential intervention opportunities. The assessment identified preliminary solutions for watercourse cleanup, solid waste interception, decentralized wastewater treatment and improved environmental management, supported by geographical mapping, indicative investment estimates and a preliminary implementation framework.
The study established an initial basis for evaluating the technical and environmental potential of the proposed interventions and defining the scope of subsequent development phases, including detailed field investigations, feasibility studies, engineering design and potential investment implementation.
