HPP Vukli is an existing, privately owned hydropower plant located on the Cem i Vuklit River, near the village of Vukël in the Malësi e Madhe Municipality, northern Albania. Originally constructed during the 1970s–1980s and subsequently privatized, the facility is undergoing a rehabilitation and modernization program aimed at upgrading its existing infrastructure and increasing its generating capacity to 1.50 MW.
The hydropower scheme is designed for a discharge of 4.50 m³/s and a net hydraulic head of approximately 42.15 m. The rehabilitation project covers the modernization of the existing water intake, sedimentation and water conveyance facilities, pressure basin, penstock and powerhouse infrastructure. The engineering design integrates hydraulic, structural and electrical improvements while taking into consideration the existing hydropower scheme and local terrain conditions.
The upgraded powerhouse is designed to accommodate two Francis turbine-generator units, each rated at 750 kW, providing a combined installed capacity of 1,500 kW. The electrical modernization includes generator control and protection equipment, synchronization systems, transformers, monitoring and automation systems, together with the necessary grid interconnection infrastructure.
The project has completed its rehabilitation engineering and secured the relevant rehabilitation construction permit. The regulatory procedures for updated water-use authorization, increased grid connection capacity and revised electricity generation licensing are progressing. Construction works have not yet commenced, and the project is currently in the pre-construction stage.
